역시… @willparkisawesome is pretty dang awesome. I feel much better now.

A genuine smile is hard to find –

• A smile unimpeded by the worries of the oneself, about what is to happen tomorrow, about what may happen today
• A smile unblocked by the tragedies seen on the news, within your friends, within your families
• A smile unhampered by the obstacles of unforeseen nature and circumstances, of what may come to a screeching halt today – a friendship, a job, a life
• A smile unobstructed by the memories of negativity, disapproval, judgment, punishment, heartache, of loss, of disappointment
• A smile undeterred by indifference

Smiles nowadays live in the moment, relishing on the pleasures of instant gratification: as joy comes, so does a smile; as humor comes, a smile follows; as thankfulness comes, so a smile appears. However, at times, it appears more as an act of tradition, than an act of genuineness. Yes, one may feel the correct emotions and obtain the right sensations for a smile, yet they remain stifled by worry, anxiety, tragedy, disappointment, heartache…etc. The smile then becomes nothing more than a façade — a means to protect, a device used to hide.

It is hard to detect, but all it takes is a limp corner of a lip, missing movement from a cheek, an unflared nostril, an absent happy wrinkle, an omitted syllable from a laugh, or a lost glimmer of an eye to see the impurity of a smile.

Problems are impossible to avoid. And most likely, everyone has something on their mind (whether it be right on the surface; or coffined, nailed, and buried deep), but it’s a matter of how we absorb, ponder over, and react to the situation that will either, 1) help or antagonize our mental countenance towards the matter at hand, and 2) in the end, affect our smile.  :-D

Yes… (fml) … Do you like it? Do you know what it is? It is a new emoticon that I have created to, like other emoticons, portray a complex set of emotions into one simple, what some may call, face.

Now at first, this newly created emoticon may not look, feel, smell, taste, sound, or sixth-sense like an overly simplified conglomeration or formation of any countenance, but let us take a closer look and analyze, shall we?

We shall.

Now even as my own creation, I see it as an abstract grouping of letters within the confines of parentheses. However, let us look deep into the center of this bewildering beast of an emoticon. What do you see in its core, in its deepest and darkest centerpiece? Take a moment to soak it in and sympathize with it.

What did you see? I see…

…an “m”.

Is not it cute? It is like that of a squealer [fn1] of a sweet little piglet [fn2]. But enough about its adorable honker, let us get a little more superficial.

After deciphering the schnawzzle [fn3], we must work our way towards its outer shell. Your first instinct may lead you to looking at the “f” or the “l.” In either case, your instincts have served you well [fn4] [fn5]. At a first glance, you will notice the unsymmetrical figures, unlike the standard straight-faced ^.^ or slightly more complicated ಠ_ಠ[fn6]. But that is the beauty of it.

While the right eye lies similarly to the pupil of a cat, the other lay crooked or deformed seemingly like the severe twitching of a pirate’s eye. It shows an imperfect emotion – one of frustration, anger, deceit, boredom, loneliness, covetousness, yearning, dissatisfaction, disappointment, the list goes on and on. Only the emoticoner can truly understand what he or she is feeling deep within and get a true grasp of those specific internal emotions. But we all know what the emoticon means and symbolizes in its essence. We all can see that it is not the stereotypical face within parentheses. We all can see that this emoticon is just a composition of letters within parenthesis. And let us be honest, we all know what “fml” stands for…

Ferociously.

Menacing.

Livelihoods. [fn7]

Because we never know what we are going to encounter, and we never know what we are going to face. But, we do know that we do not need to be scared to express our emotions. Even if all it takes at times is a measly emoticon [fn8].

i hate it:

When I get inspired to write something, start my interest-grabbing introduction, find it too inappropriate to display to the public, get discouraged, delete my post, become disheartened by the wasted time, and refuse to restart my writing endeavors.

(also when i get lazy to finish pieces that i write or just get lazy to start them… hence the lack of posts as of late.)

@greenpants remember? I deleted them… very frustrating. next time i will not hold back (probably will hold back). i conceded to watching episodes of Parks and Recreation.
